More about PIYN:

People In Your Neighbourhood (PIYN) is a project that involves performers from Auckland & Wellington’s urban ethnic communities, working with the best of contemporary UK talent, to create new artwork, workshop cutting edge artistic practice and perform a series of urban collaborations.  We aim to explore and celebrate the unrecognised artistic and urban talent in all of our neighbourhoods.
Hosted by the British Council, who have an established global network of emerging leaders in the Arts and a reputation for high quality delivery of cutting-edge projects.
For two weeks in May 2011, we will again be hosting UK music and digital media talent in New Zealand.  These guests will collaborate, share experience, workshop & create vital new expression with diverse Kiwi talent.  A key new part of the process will involve participatory and democratizing of media initiatives.
PUYN has grown to become a recognized part of the annual creative calendar, after two years of shows and a fantastic archive of footage and music.  In 2011 we are focusing on smaller engagements with a wider reach of participants for the upcoming program.

Kea

Are you one of those night-owls that skulls Red Bull, listens to music until 3am and has 900 usernames and passwords? How’s your relationship with your computer? Do you want to take it to a new level - maybe third base even…?

Well… If you know your ‘tweets’ from your ‘twats’, your ‘likes’ from your ‘follows’ and your ‘DM’s’ from your ‘pokes’, we may just have a proposition for you. Kea New Zealand is coming to an Auckland near you, and we’d like you to become involved. What the hell is Kea we hear you ask…? Good question and best we clear that up for you…

Kea is New Zealand’s kick-ass global network connecting over 26,000 members in over 180 countries for the greater good of our little land – everything social, economic and cultural.  With Regional Managers based in China, UK, Australia and New York and 24 voluntary ‘Chapters’ currently situated around the globe, we are slowly starting to rule it. We’re basically here to promote New Zealand and in this instance, making the move back here to Auckland that much easier.

So, we’re looking for someone to help implement our social media presence and assist in building up our membership in the lead up to our rocket launch on November 11. Keen? Know someone who could be? Dreamt about us last night?

Good. We dreamt about you too so we’d like to meet you.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please Contact Us and be sure to mention that you are interested in the Kea opportunity.

IfWeRanTheWorld

Organisation details

On Facebook we define ourselves by what we ‘like’ - by things we affiliate with. Now imagine a social networking site designed to put you in touch with local real-world projects where you are defined by what you ‘do’ - things you believe in and act on ….

IfWeRanTheWorld is exactly that. An extremely simple crowdsourcing platform designed to turn good intentions into action. IfWeRanTheWorld.com uses a combination of crowd-sourcing and algorithms to answer the question “If you ran the world, what would you do?” in terms of tangible, achievable goals composed of a series of “micro-actions.” In other words, it connects you to a community and can join you in breaking them down into easy steps. Actions that everyone can commit to achieving. Using gaming dynamics to make doing good fun. Why web guru Ester Dyson it as a ‘liquidity of goodness’.

You can read more about it here.

Project goals

IfWeRanTheWorld Waitakere Activation

The people of Waitakere believe the future of the world is about collaboration and led by the local council, with the support of community groups and businesses have seen the opportunity to use IfWeRanTheWorld as a platform to help the Waitakere community to self-organise, self-manage and self-sustain, to continue the community initiatives that will no longer be aided and funded by a dedicated city council as of November.

You can read more about what IWRTW is doing in the West here.

To coordinate and spread the activities and try to spark new actions we are creating a dedicated ‘IfWeRanTheWorld Waitakere’ hub on IWRTW. And in the next couple of months we are bringing all these people together in a number of collaborative events where we hope to generate the ideas, commitment and momentum needed for this project. At the events we will be capturing ideas and loading them straight onto IWRTW to make sure the good intentions do indeed turn into actions.

You can read more about how IWRTW activates events here

Who What When

We would love to talk to students with a passion for social media and online tools who over the next couple of months can help as “Love Agents” at these events and help people to capture their ideas and turn them into action using IWRTW, as well as be available to respond to people’s questions on using the site as they come to hand.

Those who are interested will be connected with our Love Agent working in the States who knows the site like the back of his hand and can help train you up.

The opportunity is to be an integral part in what is a landmark global social experiment, a first in social media, something Waitakere and NZ is pioneering, and join a team which is absolutely dedicated to proving that the internet can be used to power good and in our way help change the world.

To learn more about the IWRTW team you will be working with see here.

We are very excited to hear from you.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please Contact Us and be sure to mention that you are interested in the IfWeRanTheWorld opportunity.
